England triumphs over Pakistan in ICC U19 Women’s T20 clash
JOHOR, MALAYSIA: England secured a six-wicket victory over Pakistan in their ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup match at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval on Monday.
Chasing a modest target of 67, England sealed their first win of the tournament in just 9.2 overs.
Pakistan, which earned a point in its rain-affected opening game against the USA, is now third in Group B, with Ireland in fourth place.
Opting to field first, England’s bowlers dominated as Pakistan, led by Komal Khan, struggled to build partnerships. They slipped to 35-5 in 9.2 overs and eventually got bowled out for 66 in 18.5 overs.
Zoofishan Ayyaz top-scored for Pakistan with a brisk 13-ball 15, including two boundaries, while Komal contributed 12 off 25 balls with two fours.
For England, Amuruthaa Surenkumar stood out with figures of 3-17, while Tilly Corteen-Coleman and Olivia Brinsden claimed two wickets each.
