SHIZUOKA, Japan — Japanese machine tool maker Star Micronics aims to increase its sales volume in India tenfold with an eye on the country’s rapidly growing appetite for medical devices.
Star Micronics, based in the central Japanese city of Shizuoka, holds a roughly 30% market share in Swiss type computer numerical control (CNC) automatic lathes. These machines are used to quickly churn out components for a wide range of products from smartphones to automobiles.
