TOKYO — Japanese motor maker Nidec on Thursday left open the possibility of acquiring more machine tool makers following a contentious bid for Japan’s Makino last month as it hopes to become the global leader in the industry.
“There are several other candidates for acquisitions” in the machine tool sector, said Tatsuya Nishimoto, Nidec’s head of the machine tool business, at a news conference about its takeover bid for Makino, a Tokyo-based machine tool company, which it announced last month.
