The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, ruling out any foul play. The Bollywood actor passed away on June 14, 2020, and authorities had previously filed a case against actress Rhea Chakraborty for alleged abetment to suicide. Following the CBI’s decision, Rhea’s lawyer reacted to the report and expressed gratitude.
News reports indicate that the CBI’s closure report confirms Sushant Singh Rajput’s death as a case of suicide with no foul play involved. Officials stated that no scientific evidence supports the claim that someone forced the “Dil Bechara” actor to take his own life.
Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, thanked the investigative agency for conducting a detailed investigation and closing the case.
According to the portal, Maneshinde stated that the false narrative on social and electronic media was completely uncalled for. He emphasized that Rhea Chakraborty endured immense suffering and spent 27 days behind bars despite being innocent until Justice Sarang V Kotwal granted her bail. The advocate praised Rhea and her family for maintaining their silence despite the ‘inhuman’ treatment they faced.
The reported that the CBI submitted two separate closure reports in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case—one to a special court in Patna and the other to a special court in Mumbai.
In the first report, the CBI addressed the complaint filed by Sushant’s father, KK Singh, who accused Rhea Chakraborty of abetment to suicide. The second report focused on the case Rhea filed against Sushant’s sisters.
Officials reportedly stated that the court will now decide whether to accept the closure reports or order further investigation.
