TOKYO — Japan and Brazil agreed on Wednesday to cooperate in areas including the economy and climate change during a meeting between Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The two sides drew up a five-year action plan covering those areas. The two nations also agreed on reciprocal visits by leaders every two years and confirmed the establishment of a new defense and foreign affairs dialogue.
