CHIANG MAI/TOKYO — Myanmar’s parallel National Unity Government, which coordinates opposition to the milit regime, has announced a two-week offensive ceasefire in areas affected by Friday’s earthquake to enable relief supplies to reach victims.
The move came as the United Nations declared that “urgent humanitarian assistance is required to support those affected”, citing damage to telecoms, transport and health infrastructure.
