SEOUL — South Koreans will vote to elect a new president on June 3, the acting president announced on Tuesday, as the country seeks to regroup from a monthslong political crisis.
The snap election will be held the legal maximum of 60 days from Friday — the day the Constitutional Court voted to uphold the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol. The court voted unanimously to oust Yoon over his failed attempt at imposing martial law last December, concluding that his order violated the constitution.
