MANILA — In the city of Davao, the home base of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, residents are standing firmly behind the former leader after his arrest and detention at the International Criminal Court in the Hague.
On March 16, less than a week after Duterte’s arrest, Davao celebrated the 88th annivers of the city’s charter. Groups representing their respective barangay neighborhoods paraded through the city center, along with student marching bands.
