A 23-year-old Mland man was found dead while he was on vacation with his family on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, police said on Wednesday.

Dinari McAlmont, of Bowie, Mland, was found unresponsive on a beach on Saturday, according to a statement from the Royal Bahamas Police Force. A spokesperson for Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas confirmed on Wednesday that one of its guests died.

Police said that a post-mortem examination revealed that McAlmont died as a result of drowning.

“Further, police are still awaiting the forensic toxicology analysis, and investigations are ongoing,” police said. “That said, foul play is not suspected at this time.”

However, the 23-year-old’s mother, Michelle McAlmont, told Eyewitness News Bahamas on Tuesday that her son’s face looked beaten when authorities showed her his body.

“I need justice for my baby,” she said through tears. “I need justice.”

McAlmont’s family could not be reached for comment.

Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas released a short statement on Wednesday, confirming the death.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the guest’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

The spokesperson added that the resort will not comment further while they await “police’s final report.”

In July, an American woman, Taylor Casey, went missing on Paradise Island while on a monthlong yoga retreat. Her whereabouts are still unknown.
