BANGKOK — Thailand’s push to legalize casino gambling faces headwinds, with lawmakers postponing deliberations amid a public backlash and tensions within the ruling coalition.
The parliament will not take up new legislation promoting the development of integrated resorts, which include gambling, until its next session that begins in July, the government has said, ostensibly to allow Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to focus on responding to a powerful earthquake that hit Thailand and Myanmar at the end of March.
