TAIPEI — Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. on Thursday said it plans to put its most advanced 1.4-nanometer chips into production in 2028, as the world’s top chipmaker looks to stay ahead of Samsung and Intel.
Also known as the A14 or 14-angstrom node, it is the next generation of chip production technology after 2-nm chips that are scheduled to enter production by the end of this year. A14 chips can offer 15% faster speed and a 30% reduction in power, according to the company, and are aimed at enabling more AI applications on smartphones and other devices.
