5.2 magnitude earthquake jolts Swat and surrounding areas
On Saturday, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.23 struck Swat and nearby areas. The earthquake had a depth of 130 kilometers, and its center was in the Hindu Kush mountains.
People in Swat Mingora, Lower Dir, Chitral, and surrounding areas felt the tremors, which caused brief panic, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
Earlier, another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 shook many cities in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
This quake’s epicenter was near the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, at a depth of 94 kilometers. People felt the tremors in cities like Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Lower Dir, Mansehra, Haripur, Abbottabad, Swabi, Swat, Sargodha, Chiniot, Kotli in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit, and nearby areas.
In Punjab, cities like Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Sahiwal, Pindi Bhattian, and Toba Tek Singh were also affected. Thankfully, no damage or injuries were reported.
