The funeral prayer for Irtaza Abbas, the seven-year-old son of Lieutenant Colonel Zaheer Abbas who was martyred due to unprovoked Indian cross-border shelling in Dawarandi, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, was held in Islamabad.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the prayer was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

Also in attendance were Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Atta Tarrar, and numerous senior milit officers—both serving and retired—alongside government officials, soldiers, and family members of the martyr.

After the funeral, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned India’s unprovoked aggression, calling the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, a shameful act of cowardice. He said such reckless behavior highlights the aggressive and arrogant mindset of the Indian government, posing a serious threat to peace in the region and beyond.

President Zardari and PM Shehbaz both reiterated Pakistan’s resolve, affirming that the country’s armed forces are responding firmly and effectively to Indian provocations. They vowed that violations of international law and humanitarian principles would be met with firm and decisive action.
