Earthquake jolts Balochistan’s Zhob, adjoining areas
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 jolted Zhob and its adjoining areas in Balochistan province on Thursday.
According to the seismological center, the epicenter of the earthquake was in south-east of from Zhob and the tremors were recorded at a depth of 40 kilometres.
People in Khuzdar came out of their homes in fear, reciting Kalma-e-Tayyaba. However, no loss of life or damage to property has been reported from any part of Khuzdar so far.
On May 18, moderate earthquake tremors with a magnitude of 4.7 were felt in Swat and nearby areas. Authorities said there were no immediate reports of any damage caused by the quake.
According to the National Seismological Centre, the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 205 kilometers, with its epicenter in the Hindukush Mountain range, a known earthquake-prone area that stretches across Afghanistan and northern Pakistan. The tremors were felt in several parts of the Swat region, including Mingora and surrounding areas.
Earlier, on May 12, an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck Quetta, the capital of Balochistan. al Seismic Monitoring Centre reported that the tremors were felt in Quetta and nearby areas, with the epicenter located to the west of the city.
