DALLAS, Texas — Seven & i Holdings will open 500 convenience stores featuring an improved lineup of food in the U.S. by 2027, as the Japanese retail group looks to boost its competitiveness in the face of a $47 billion takeover bid from Canada’s Alimentation Couche-Tard.

Doug Rosencrans, chief operating officer of 7-Eleven Inc., told reporters on Tuesday that the Dallas-based subsidi of Seven & i will lift the quality of its fresh food products and offer them to customers worldwide.
