TOKYO — Japan will expand the Self-Defense Forces’ role in cyberdefense to include the proactive protection of core infrastructure, Nikkei has learned, with plans for information sharing with the police.
Active cyberdefense involves monitoring communications to detect such threats as attacks against critical infrastructure, while taking steps to neutralize the attacker’s capabilities before they strike.
