SEOUL — South Korean investigators arrested suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol on Wednesday, capping a protracted effort to serve him with a warrant over his attempt to impose martial law last month and marking the first-ever arrest of a sitting South Korean president.
A team composed of police and officials from the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) gained access to Yoon’s residence after using ladders to get over barricades that the Presidential Security Service (PSS) had set up to prevent them from entering the compound.
