The South African cricket team has faced a significant setback as fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 due to a back injury.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the news after scans conducted on Monday confirmed the severity of Nortje’s condition. Originally included in the squad, Nortje’s unavailability has left the team seeking a replacement, which will be announced soon.
The Champions Trophy is set to begin in Pakistan on Febru 19, and South Africa will kick off their campaign on Febru 21 against Afghanistan in Karachi. They will then face Australia on Febru 25 in Rawalpindi and England on March 1 in Karachi, competing in a tough group.
