CANBERRA — U.S. President Donald Trump will wield wartime powers in a bid to increase U.S. production and processing of critical minerals, characterizing the nation’s reliance on foreign countries for such materials as an acute threat to its security.
An executive order signed on Thursday in the U.S. invokes the use of the Defense Production Act (DPA) and other measures to “facilitate domestic mineral production to the maximum possible extent.”
