ISLAMABAD — Google Wallet’s entry into Pakistan last week marks a step toward a cashless society there, but industry experts say the government needs to dismantle the large undocumented economy and create a data protection framework for digital payments to become the norm.
Launched on March 12, Google’s digital wallet lets users store bank cards, boarding passes, tickets and other documents on smart Android devices including watches. Users can then make contactless payments, access transit passes or tickets and manage other digital items on those devices.
