SYDNEY — Having rode voter distaste for U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration to a thumping election victory, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese now faces the thorny question of how to handle relations with his American counterpart, with experts flagging critical minerals as a potential area of cooperation.
On Monday, Albanese said he had a “warm and positive conversation with President Trump,” which touched on the AUKUS defense partnership and tariffs. “We will engage with each other on a face-to-face basis at some time in the future,” Albanese told reporters.
