TOKYO — Nissan Motor is considering cutting two factories in Mexico, in addition to considering suspending or closing two factories in Kanagawa, Japan, the prefecture where the company was founded, Nikkei has learned.

After recording a massive multibillion-dollar loss in the fiscal year ended March, the automaker will also close one factory each in South Africa, India, and Argentina. By closing seven factories worldwide, production capacity will be cut by 1 million vehicles to 2.5 million.
